Prairieland Anglers fishing club hosts Illinois Department of Natural Resources fisheries biologist Mike Garthaus at Cub Foods Cafe at the store off Veterans Parkway in Bloomington at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Funks Grove Corps of Discovery participants will develop skills in photography, writing, sketching and the creative integration of these disciplines. Physical journaling, photo-journaling and keeping a sketch journal will be used to record the natural wonders of Funks Grove, both today and into the future. Sessions are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 12 and 19, and April 2 and 9. Fee is $100, which includes course materials, individual and group instruction and snacks. The second annual performance series celebrating Chicago’s ethnic neighborhoods is noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays from today through April 15 in Navy Pier’s Crystal Gardens. Enjoy live music, dance performances, cuisine, and folk art from various ethnic Chicago communities. The free themed Sunday events focus on Greece today; Lithuania March 11; Mexico March 18; Italy March 25; the Philippines April 1; Africa April 8; and Germany April 15.
Toluca Sportsman’s Club hosts a hunter safety course March 15 to 17. The class will be at the Toluca American Legion. Registration will start at 5:30 p.m. March 15. The class will run from 6 to 9 p.m. that day, 6 to 9:30 p.m. March 16 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 16. Class size is limited to 25 on a first come-first serve basis.
