THAWVILLE — Christopher Jay Lee, 47, of Thawville, died 9:22 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 10, 2015) at his home.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman, with Pastor Douglas Lee officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeland Township Cemetery, Thawville. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service, also at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Chris was born May 19, 1968, in Gibson City, to Donald and Mary (Taylor) Jensen. His father passed away in 1973. Chris graduated from Ford Central High School in 1987. He attended Lincoln Tech in Indianapolis, Ind., receiving a degree as a mechanic on heavy-duty equipment and trucks.
Survivors include his daughter, Broedy Lee, Woodbury, Conn.; parents, Mike and Mary Lee, Thawville; siblings, Steve (Ellen) Lee, Paxton; Michelle (Ryan) Johnson, New Berlin; and Dawn Hartke, Melvin; five nephews, Luke Althouse, Nathan Lee, Alex Johnson, Michael and Owen Hartke; two nieces, Emma Johnson and Taylor Hartke; paternal grandparents, Don and Janet Jensen, Gibson City; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chris was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Donovan Taylor, Leonard and Mildred Davis and JC and Louise Lee.
He worked for 12 years in Florida on heavy-duty equipment then moved back to Illinois, working for Lee Trucking and Jesse McGehee Trucking.
Chris enjoyed sports and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid Cubs, Illini and Florida State fan. Chris helped with youth girls sports and played summer volleyball. He loved fishing.
