GIBSON CITY - Juanita Bennett, 90, of Gibson City, died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at the Country Health Nursing Home, Gifford.

Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church, Gibson City, with the Rev. Michael Brazelle and the Rev. Ed Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City.

Mrs. Bennett was born Oct. 21, 1925, in Gibson City, a daughter of Edward Lee and Daisy Marie (Beck) Donner. She married James L. Wahls on Sept. 22, 1946, in Champaign County. He died Oct. 13, 1963. She later married Thomas W. Bennett on July 3, 1971, in Gibson City. He died Feb. 28, 1988.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry L. (Ida) Wahls, Gibson City, and Steve R. Wahls, Camano Island, Wash.; a daughter, Vicki J. (Alan) Good, Loda; grandchildren, Chad (Julie) Wahls, Muncie, Ill.; Eric (Dustha) Wahls, Charleston; B.J. Broerman, Manchester, Ohio; Justin (Tina) Broerman, Denmark, Wisc.; Nathan (Nicole Faulk) Broerman, Gibson City; and Michelle (Barney) Petty, Urbana; stepgrandchildren, Tim (Caroline) Good, Greencastle, Ind., and Karen (John) Schuler, Duquoin; 18 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jessie (Vernon) Roesch, Gibson City, and Ivan (Phyllis) Donner, Toulon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one bother, Delmar Donner; and a granddaughter, Julie Wahls.

Juanita worked in civil service for 30 years at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul and Rein/Mein Air Force Base in Germany. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gibson City, where she was a deacon and served on various church committees. She was also a member of the Garber Club and the Anchor Club for 43 years.

Memorials may be made to Friends of Moyer District Library, GCMS Booster Club or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
