MELVIN — Lois A. Kietzman, 96, of Melvin, died 8:40 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 3, 2015) at Gibson Area Hospital Annex, Gibson City.
Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Roberts, with the Rev. Mattew Geerdes officiating. Burial will be in Melvin Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
She was born Nov. 21, 1918, in Anchor, the daughter of John J. and Wilhelmina “Minnie” Hoffman Muehlenpfort. She married Raymond Kietzman on April 9, 1939, in Melvin. He preceded her in death May 14, 2001.
Surviving are two sons John (Gloria) Kietzman, Villa Grove, and Michael (Stacey) Kietzman, Monticello; two daughters, Mary (Willard) Cunningham, Anna, and Beth (Mike) Followell, Champaign; eight grandchildren, Melissa Kinder, Ted (Ashlee) Cunningham, Sarah (David) Long, Kendra Courson, Kevin (Sarah) Kietzman, Mynette (R.J.) Kretz, Jessica Followell, Preston Kietzman; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Geraldine Kietzman and Suzanne Muehlenpfort.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Brockman, and brothers, Kenneth and Emerson Muehlenpfort.
Lois was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Her hobbies were her flowers, gardening, and word puzzles.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her church or Gibson Area Hospital Annex Long Term Care. Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, is in charge of arrangements.
