ELLIOTT-Lucille May, age 92 of Elliott, died at 10:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 at Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton.

Her funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in rural Elliott with the Rev. Priscilla Geerdes officiating. Burial will be at the Pontoppidan Lutheran Cemetery in rural Elliott.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. before the service on Sunday.

Mrs. May was born Feb. 15, 1919 in Champaign County, a daughter of Harry C. and Maria (Fretty) Johnson. She married Russel May on May 19, 1941 in Elliott. He passed away Jan. 28, 1994.

Surviving are three daughters, Joann (Robert) Scheurich of Elliott, Janet ( Gary ) Shepherd of Gibson City, and Sharon May of Naples, Fla.; a brother, Eldon Johnson of Paxton; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is a brother Howard.

Mrs. May received her bachelor's degree from ISU College in 1974. She taught in county schools for five years before teaching for the Gibson City School District retiring in 1981.

She was a member of the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, the Picketsville Club, Retired Teachers Association, and the Women of the Moose.

Mrs. May was involved in activities in the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church and also was a Republican Party Committeemen for Dix Township.

Memorials may be made to the Pontoppidan Cemetery Fund or to an organization of the donor's choice.

Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City is in charge of the arrangements.
