SIBLEY — Michael E. “Queenie” Roth, 64, of Sibley, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at his home in Sibley.
His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Gibson City. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, with visitation to follow until 7 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Sibley, with full military rites accorded by the Lee Lowery American Legion Post 568.
He was born April 15, 1951, in Bloomington, a son of Robert and Norma Denney Roth. He married Connie Strange on Oct. 25, 1975, in Gibson City. She survives in Sibley.
Also surviving is a stepson, Doug Shewmaker, Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; two granddaughters, Emma and Madeline; his mother, Norma Roth, Bloomington; four sisters, Sue (Dennis) Bain, Saybrook; Pam (Todd) Graham, Bloomington; LeAnn (George) Hale, Normal; and Judy Hawthorne, Bloomington; and a brother, Tim (Penny) Roth, Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Queenie was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam and was a member of the Lee Lowery American Legion Post 568 of Gibson City. He was an owner-operator truck driver for more than 30 years with the last 17 being with J&R Schugel Company. He was an avid Jeff Gordon and NASCAR fan, Chicago Bears and GCMS Falcons fan. He enjoyed his time at the Cropsey Sportsman’s Club, where he was a member, and was a strong supporter of Relay For Life. He was also a member of the Blind Veterans Association and lifetime member of OOIDA Truckers for Troops.
