PAXTON - Waunita J. Riblet, 86, of Paxton, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 2, at Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton. Rev. Randy Riblet and Rev. Deb Domeier officiated. Burial followed in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation was held for two hours Friday at the funeral home.
Waunita was born Oct. 29, 1928, in Gibson City, the daughter of Elmer and Gesina M. Suntken Nelson. She married Roy Riblet on April 13, 1949, at the United Brethren Church, Gibson City . He preceded her in death Dec. 20, 2003.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Sutherlin, Veedersburg, Ind., and Connie (Mike) Evans, Paxton; two sons, Randy (Renee) Riblet, Louisville, Ky., and Rick (Kelly) Riblet, Paxton; nine grandchildren, Talisha, Brian, Jeremy, Jason, Stacy, Joshua, Zacheriah, Caitlynn and Konnor; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Schaeffer, Gibson City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Loretta Morfey.
Along with being a homemaker, Waunita was a cook for the Paxton School District for many years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Paxton, the Paxton Jr. Women’s Club and the PTA. She was a Girl Scout leader and former secretary of the Paxton Share and Care. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed canning, sewing, bird watching and feeding the squirrels. Her greatest joy was her family.
