LINCOLN — To mark Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the Logan County Department of Public Health is giving away free fecal immunochemical tests (FIT) while supplies last in March.

As the next best option for individuals who resist having a colonoscopy, FIT screens for early signs of colon cancer. The test is an at-home stool sample kit which is sensitive to detecting blood in the stool, which may be associated with gastrointestinal disease including colon cancer.

Oral health

BLOOMINGTON — Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation, the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of Delta Dental of Illinois, is accepting applications for its seventh annual Wisdom Tooth Award. The $100,000 grant is available to a nonprofit organization, government entity or school with a program dedicated to improving oral health in Illinois.

The award is designed to help expand or enhance existing children's oral health programs.

The Macoupin County Public Health Department received the 2018 award to add dental staff to the department's clinic and school-based oral health services and to support a new dental clinic to serve children and teens.
