Cubs vs. Cardinals

The Cubs' Kyle Schwarber, right, celebrates with Jason Heyward (22) after scoring on a wild pitch by Braves relief pitcher Peter Moylan during the eighth inning of Saturday's game.

The Cardinals were 1-8 at Wrigley Field last year but led or were tied in the sixth inning or later in every game but one. The one game the Cardinals won at Wrigley they actually trailed 3-2 going into the eighth before scoring nine runs.

On Monday night, righthander Adam Wainwright is scheduled to make his 19th career start at Wrigley. Wainwright, who has made more starts at Wrigley than at any stadium other than Busch, is 10-2 in his career at The Friendly Confines.

The Cubs, who opened with three series on the road, have gone only 2-3 on their first homestand. But they are expected to get back All-Star first baseman Anthony Rizzo on Monday night. Rizzo has been out with a sore back.

High-priced free agent righthander Yu Darvish ($126 million for six years) is winless with a 6.00 earned run average in his first three starts for the Cubs. Darvish, who will not pitch in the series because of Sunday’s rainout, hasn’t made it past the fifth in two of those starts.

Cubs vs. Cardinals 2

The Cardinals' Harrison Bader, left, celebrates his two-run home run off Reds starting pitcher Homer Bailey with Greg Garcia (42) in the second inning of Sunday's game in Cincinnati. St. Louis won 3-2.
