Normal Community High School's Mason Wright was named Defensive Player of the Year, while quarterbacks Josh Kirshenbaum of NCHS and Arion Worthman of Normal West were Co-Offensive Players of the Year on the all-Big 12 Conference football team released Monday.
Wright, a senior linebacker, helped NCHS repeat as league champions. Kirshenbaum and Worthman also are seniors.
Wright was a unanimous selection by the league coaches. Other Intercity players chosen unanimously on defense were lineman Gavin Cook of NCHS; linebackers Andrew Legett of NCHS and Connor Kennedy of Normal West; and defensive backs David Boyd of NCHS, Andrew Gregory of NCHS and Genia Fuss of Normal West.
Intercity unanimous selections on offense were linemen Michael Reid of Bloomington, Jake Rothwell of NCHS and Caleb Mohr of Normal West; tight ends Riley Rahuba of NCHS and Mace Julian of West; Boyd at wide receiver; and running back Telly Arrington of Bloomington.
Other Intercity players earning first-team honors were offensive lineman Sean Kennedy of NCHS, receiver Dante Ruffin of Normal West, running backs Alec Bozarth of NCHS and Dajour Forrest of Normal West, defensive linemen AJ Devecchi of NCHS, Josh Perschall of Normal West, Robert Paul of Normal West and Tristan Keller of Bloomington; and punter Mitch Fairfield of Normal West.
