LeRoy vs Arthur

Fullback Lane Lindstrom ran for 172 yards and two touchdowns, while quarterback Bryce Dooley rushed for 111 yards and three scores as eighth-seeded LeRoy High School downed Arthur, 54-34, in a Class 1A first-round playoff game Saturday at LeRoy.

The Panthers (8-2) advanced to a second-round game on the road next week against top-seeded Carrollton (10-0), which Concord Triopia, 43-6.

LeRoy accumulated 461 yards of total offense, with 371 coming on the ground. Dooley also completed three of six attempts for 90 yards,including a 16-yard TD to Eli Kerns in the second quarter to go ahead 24-6.

"We did a very nice job of executing," LeRoy coach B.J. Zeleznik said. "The ground game did well, but what went really well was we threw the ball well early in the game. I think that loosened them up a little bit.

"Lane Lindstrom had a great day and Bryce Dooley had a very good game at quarterback. Our offensive line from tackle to tackle is all one way. They were pretty fresh in the second half and we really wore them down."

Arthur (7-3), now ALAH after mergers with Lovington and Atwood-Hammond, was led by quarterback Tyler Schuring, who accounted for 258 yards of total offense and four touchdowns. Schuring's 80-yard TD pass to Kyle Feagin brought the Knights within 30-20 at halftime.

Dooley's 1-yard TD run early in the third quarter gave the Panthers a 38-20 lead. Arthur never got within 11 points again. Lindstrom, who earlier scored on runs of 50 and 1 yards, got into the end zone on a 6-yard run to close the scoring.

Momence 19, EPG 6: El Paso-Gridley took a 6-0 lead in the third quarter, but fifth-ranked Momence rallied to defeat the No. 8 Titans in a Class 2A first-round game at Momence.

Dustyn Brown scored on a 1-yard run for EPG (8-2) with 3:13 left in the third quarter. The extra-point kick was no good.

Momence (9-1) came back to tie it late in the period on a 13-yard run by LeAnthony Reasnover. Reasnover then scored on a 4-yard run with 7:48 to go in the fourth quarter to put his team ahead, 13-6. The TD was set up by an EPG fumble at its own 15.

Momence added a 1-yard TD run by Aaron Cantwell with 4:58 left and held on. Reasnover ended with 119 yards rushing on 32 carries.

John Meinhold ran for 60 yards on 12 carries to lead EPG. Titans' quarterback Deavon Puck was 10 of 26 passing for 77 yards with three interceptions. Mike Koos led the EPG defense with 11 tackles.

EPG turned the ball over five times to two for Momence.

Abingdon 48, FCW 12: Third-ranked and second-seeded Abingdon-Avon (10-0) took a 34-6 halftime lead and cruised past Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland (5-5) in a Class 1A first-round game at Abingdon.
