NORMAL — The 26th annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis will be Sunday beginning at the Heartland Community College Fitness and Recreation Center, 1500 Raab Road.

The annual holiday-themed event raises money for arthritis research and for programs and services to assist people with arthritis. Arthritis is a leading cause of disability in the United States, affecting 50 million Americans.

Registration begins at 10 a.m., followed by a Santa Sprint for children ages 5 and younger at 11:30 a.m., a holiday-themed costume contest at 12:15 p.m., a five-kilometer run/walk at 1 p.m., a one-mile walk at 1:15 p.m. and lunch and prizes at 2 p.m.

Race-day registration is $40. For children 12 and under who are not being timed, registration is $15.

Last year, nearly 2,000 people participated and about $90,000 was raised. This year’s goal is $127,400.
