BLOOMINGTON — The McLean County Museum of History will reveal the recipients of this year’s History Makers award on March 19 in the museum’s historic Governor Fifer Courtroom.
The four honorees will be named at 11 a.m. and will be celebrated at the museum’s eighth annual History Makers Gala on June 19.
Each year, the museum’s History Makers Gala recognizes older adults whose outstanding, lifelong contributions of time and talents have helped make McLean County the thriving community it is today.
In a news release, the museum said this year's recipients' contributions to civil rights, economic development, education and health care have built a stronger community.
Presented in conjunction with the museum’s annual meeting, the gala dinner will feature live dramatizations to celebrate the honorees and their lives of service.
Tickets sales begin May 3. Cost is $60 for the public and $50 for museum members. They can be purchased at the museum or online at mchistory.org.
Proceeds support the museum’s free educational programs that reach more than 7,000 local schoolchildren and 1,200 senior citizens each year. The nonprofit museum is among the 3 percent of all U.S. museums accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
