BLOOMINGTON - The critiques, the laughs and the discussion by a local book club will appear on the cable network C-SPAN this weekend.
C-SPAN sent a film crew to Bloomington at the beginning of the month to film the Books & Bites Nonfiction Book Club discussing Barbara Ehrenreich's book, "Nickel and Dimed."
Bloomington Public Library co-interim director Krysta Tepper said they received word this week the episode would air starting at 2 p.m. Saturday on C-SPAN2.
According to C-SPAN's programming guide, an encore of the show is scheduled to run at 2 a.m. Sunday.
The director of the episode, Jason Fowler, said C-SPAN has a "fly on the wall" approach to filming book club discussions.
The episode is part of the C-SPAN's "Book TV" program.
Book & Bites meets once a month at the Lincoln Leisure Center and the club is sponsored by the Bloomington Public Library and the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department.
The featured book is about how Ehrenreich spent time working various jobs trying to understand how unskilled laborers and the working poor try to make ends meet.
"Nickel and Dimed" is the first book in the club's 11-book series for 2006.
