BLOOMINGTON - A proposed restaurant for downtown received the Bloomington Liquor Commission's OK for a liquor license.
The commission approved a restaurant license that will allow the sale of all times of alcohol by the glass for Your Mother's, 102 N. Center St.
The sports-bar themed restaurant in the Front and Center building is under development by Ben Slotky, owner of the Castle Theater.
Part of the atmosphere for Your Mother's is the kitchen will be open late.
"Last call would be for alcohol and for food," Slotky said.
In addition to serving the late night crowd, Slotky said Your Mother's would be open for lunch and dinner.
Although Slotky is still keeping the full menu a secret for now, he said he wants the business to be known for its hamburgers. The hand-made, 6-inch burgers would include toppings such as zucchini and avocado.
Slotky said he hopes his customers are people attending events at the Coliseum who want to get a burger and a beer either before or after the game.
The license will go before the City Council April 24 for a vote.
An opening date has not been set, but Slotky hopes the restaurant will be open later this year.
