Fire hydrant testing starts

BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington fire and water departments will start its annual fire hydrant inspection program this weekend.

Nonfunctional hydrants will be wrapped with bright orange plastic bags. Residents may see some water discoloration and should run water until its clear.

Voter ID cards hit mail soon

BLOOMINGTON - The second group of voter identification cards will be mailed after July 4 to registered voters in Bloomington.

Cards will be mailed in four groups. The current group will be for voters living in precincts 8, 10, 15, 20, 31, 32, 39, 40, 42, 43 and 44.

Holiday won't affect pickup

NORMAL - Household garbage pickup won't be affected Wednesday by the July 4 holiday, although town offices will be closed.

Brush, bulky waste and landscape waste will be collected Thursday. Collection crews work from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
