Seat sponsorships available for BCPA

BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Cultural District is offering seat sponsorships for the newly renovated Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts.

Sponsorships are $750, $550, or $350 depending on location. Funds will be used for projects including equipping the BCPA, building an arts education center and creating a festival park.

Sponsors will get a plaque on their seat, advance notification of all 2006-07 BCPA season events, and priority ticketing for series subscriptions.

Woman, 54, hit by snow plow truck

BLOOMINGTON A Bloomington woman was struck by a snow plow truck in the parking lot of Eastland Mall Saturday afternoon.

According to a witness, Laura Kroutil, 54, of the 200 block of West Locust Street, was walking in the middle of an intersection and stopped before being struck by the plow at it drove westbound in the parking lot. The truck was traveling about 5 mph at the time of the accident.

Kroutil was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.

Battery “ A Bloomington man is accused of picking up a pregnant woman by the neck and hitting her in the mouth.

Carlos Cregan, 18, of Bloomington, was charged Friday with two felony counts of aggravated battery of a pregnant person.

According to a witness, on Friday Cregan grabbed the woman by the neck and forced her into an adjoining room and struck her, causing her to bleed and her mouth to become swollen.

Cregen is also accused of pulling the same woman's hair, throwing her to the floor and threatening her last month at the Palace Cinema in Bloomington, police said.

Cregan is currently being held in lieu of $20,000.

Burglary A man was charged Friday with breaking into the Colfax library and stealing cash.

Kevin Gavin, 18, of Colfax, and another individual are accused of breaking through a window at the library and taking about $40 from a desk drawer. The theft took place around November 17 of last year.

A 34-year-old man is accused of sexually molesting a girl under the age of 13 Friday.

Michael Moritz of Morton faces one count of predatory criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 13.

He is in custody in lieu of $100,000.

According to a report on file Sunday, the incident occurred last month in the victim's home.

Moritz is a registered sex offender with a previous conviction for aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Tonya M. Bean, 27, 1600 block of Beta, Bloomington, fine of $600, DUI fine of $500, sentenced to two years of conditional discharge and must complete recommended sentence and 240 hours of community service.

John D. Thompson, 34, 1500 block of Hunt Street, Normal, fine of $600, DUI fine of $500, sentenced to two years of court supervision and must complete recommended treatment.

Anthony S. Fletcher, 23, Mason City, fine of $600, DUI fine of $50, sentenced to two years of conditional discharge and must complete recommended treatment.

Agustin Zuviri, 25, North Meadow Village, Normal, fine of $600, DUI fine of $500, sentenced to two years of conditional discharge and must complete recommended treatment.

John G. Namoff, 44, 500 block of West Stewart, Bloomington, fine of $600, DUI fine of $500, sentenced to two years of conditional discharge and must complete recommended treatment.

Jesse J. Coggin, 24, 1300 block of North Hershey, Bloomington, fine of $600, DUI fine of $500, sentenced to two years of conditional discharge and must complete recommended treatment.

Matthew G. Pickell, 24, 100 block of West Irving Street, Normal, fine of $600, DUI fine of $500, sentenced to two years of court supervision and must complete recommended treatment.

Cheryl B. Uphoff, 22, 300 block of Regency Street, Bloomington, fine of $600, DUI fine of $500, sentenced to two years of court supervision and must complete recommended treatment.

Anthony J. Andrews, 38, 1700 block of Rockingham Road, Bloomington, fine of $600, DUI fine of $500, sentenced to two years of court supervision and must complete recommended treatment.

Jonothan D. Rivera, 20, Oak Park, fine of $600, DUI fine of $500, sentenced to two years of court supervision and must complete recommended treatment.
