Unit 5 school board to host town meeting
NORMAL - The Unit 5 school board will host an intergovernmental meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Parkside Junior High School, 101 N. Parkside Road.
Unit 5 has invited elected representatives from Carlock, Hudson and Towanda, and the McLean County Board. No official action will be taken at the meeting, which is a forum for common concerns.
Kiwanis Club collects food during parade
BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Kiwanis Club will collect nonperishable food items during the Jaycees' Christmas parade set for Saturday.
Kiwanis members will carry boxes provided by Cub Foods. The collected items will be given to The Salvation Army.
The parade steps off at 10 a.m. from Kingsley Junior High School in Normal and travels to Jefferson Street in downtown Bloomington.
Indian cinema benefit aids homeless shelter
BLOOMINGTON - The McLean County India Association will hold a tribute to Indian cinema from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 9 at Presser Hall, Illinois Wesleyan University.
Proceeds will benefit fundraising efforts for a new homeless shelter at The Salvation Army.
