Peru man named detention director
OTTAWA - A Peru man has been named the new LaSalle County juvenile detention director by Chief Judge Robert Carter to replace Joanne White, who is retiring after more than 30 years.
Mark Krueger, 46, was the assistant director for 11 months and has worked for the center for 15 years. He is a Western Illinois University graduate in criminology. A new assistant director for the 24 employees of the center has not been named.
YouthBuild gets gift from Chase
BLOOMINGTON - YouthBuild McLean County, a program that helps young people get their GED, leadership training and builds affordable housing, has received a $2,500 donation from Chase Bank.
The money will be used to help fund the YouthBuild affordable housing program.
Museum shortens holiday hours
The McLean County Museum of History will have restricted hours over the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
The museum will close on 1 p.m. on Saturdays and be closed on Sundays.
Streator woman, 41, sentenced for fraud
STREATOR - A Streator woman will report to prison in February to begin serving an 18-month sentence for fraud in connection with charging Medicaid for services never delivered.
Sharrie Renken, 41, pleaded guilty in August to two of the 12 counts in a negotiated plea. She will report to federal prison Feb. 6. She was indicted last year for charging for services never provided from her business, Renken Transportation, that she ran from her home.
She will have three years' probation after her prison sentence is complete.
