PEORIA - A coroner's jury ruled a 12-year-old Atlanta boy's traffic death on April 21 was an accident.
Adam K. Dovel leaped over a guardrail on the north side of McLean County Road 1000 North just west of McLean County Road 975 East when he was struck by a westbound car, the Peoria County coroner's office said in an inquest document. Police were told Dovel was fishing in a creek on the north side of the road and was going to cross to the south side of the road to meet with friends, police previously said.
Peoria County coroner's office was involved in the investigation into the boy's death because he was pronounced dead at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He died of blunt head and chest trauma, the coroner's office said.
