Hartem talks about co-opting basketball

Key action: Discussed co-opting with one of the Lincoln girls junior high basketball teams after several girls showed an interest in playing at the junior high level. Previously, only one or two girls wanted to play and they were put onto the boys' team.

Other action Approved the annual joint agreement resolution so students in the tech programs can take classes at Lincoln Community High School.

PAXTON

Council gives initial OK for subdivision

When: Feb. 20

Key action: Gave initial approval for a new subdivision on Paxton's northwest side. Contractor H.J. Flessner of Paxton has plans to build 11 single-family residences.

Other action: Will decide March 13 whether to accept George Coulthard's second proposal to become the fixed-base operator for Paxton Municipal Airport.

PONTIAC

Council tables vote on facility rezoning

Meeting: City Council

When: Feb. 20

Key action Tabled a vote on rezoning property on Deerfield Road for a new supportive living facility. The 60-unit complex would be run by a Rockford-based company and serve seniors who need help with daily living, but not a nursing home.

Other action Approved a new council committee structure. Four committees were created with six members each. The committees specialize in finance, infrastructure, public property and community service. Committee members are selected by the mayor.

Next meeting: March 6.

MINONK

Council lifts rules for parking in alley

Key action: Removed parking restrictions from the east side of the Chestnut Street alley between Fifth and Sixth streets.
