BLOOMINGTON - The search for a new director for the Bloomington Public Library could end Tuesday.

An executive session and a motion to hire a new director are among the items listed on the agenda for the library board of trustees meeting.

A call to board President Carol Koos was not returned Thursday. Who will be offered the job was not included in the agenda information.

The board began its search in December when it hired Gossage, Sager and Associates. The Buffalo Grove-based firm specializes in nationwide searches for libraries.

The board agreed to pay the search firm $20,000 plus expenses to conduct the search.

City Finance Director Brian Barnes and library marketing manager Krysta Tepper serve as interim co-directors of the library. They have held that position since July 2005 when Matt Kubiak stepped down as director.

A motion to keep Tepper in the position as interim co-director until July 7 also appears on the agenda.

When the board hired Gossage, Sager and Associates, it set March 1 as a tentative application deadline. Interviews were expected in April and selection in May.

The board will be slightly ahead of the timeline if it approves a candidate Tuesday.

After 17 years as the library's director, Kubiak went on administrative leave last summer. The board and Kubiak reached an agreement in September when the board formally accepted Kubiak's resignation.
