BLOOMINGTON — When the door to the Creatures Crypt slammed shut four Octobers ago, Bloomington-Normal had some of the fright taken out of it.
But no more: thanks to some former Crypt caretakers, a new scream team has been formed.
And, starting Thursday night, they’re going after our innermost fears.
In fact, that inspires the name of their new witch’s brew: InnerFears Haunted House, located at the old Eureka-Williams Co. factory complex at 1201 E. Bell St., Bloomington, also the site of Creatures Crypt.
But the new haunting is taking place in a different area of the complex, according to Michelle Angone of Haunted Heartland Productions, creator of the attraction.
The location is in the complex section formerly occupied by the Occupational Development Center, which closed two years ago.
Angone’s husband, Kevin, was the former head makeup artist for Creatures Crypt and is a co-owner of Haunted Heartland Productions, based in Normal.
According to Michelle Angone, several other members of the creative crew are Crypt alums.
Following a special fundraising event last weekend for the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal and The Shriners Hospital for Children, InnerFears will open from 7 to 10 p.m. today and 7 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
