BLOOMINGTON — McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling pronounced a Canadian man dead at 7:45 a.m. Friday after staff at a Bloomington hotel discovered him unresponsive in his room.

Kimmerling said the man was in his late 40s, but there were no signs of trauma or foul play, adding alcohol may have been a factor in the man’s death at the Holiday Inn Express at Wylie and Bettis drives on the city’s far west side. Bloomington Police’s Crime Scene Unit was on the scene Friday morning.

Kimmerling said her office will work with the BPD to notify Canadian authorities of the man’s death and contact his next of kin. The man’s passport contained emergency contact information. She said he had been living in the hotel for a week.
