Wayne E. Clayton, 50, of Bloomington, went home to be with the Lord at 10:52 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2019) at Advocate Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn.
His funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at East White Oak Bible Church, 11922 E. 2000 North Road, Carlock. The Rev. Scott Boerckel will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at East White Oak Bible Church. His graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Tri-Valley Education Foundation or East White Oak Bible Church. Arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.
Wayne was born June 25, 1968, in Madison, Ind. He married Jeanette Newberry on Aug. 2, 1997, in Normal.
He is survived by his wife and their two daughters, Hannah and Ashlyn Clayton, at home; mother, Carol (Joe) Runyon, Lincoln; father, Eddie (Pam) Clayton, Canton; father- and mother-in-law, Carroll and Nancy Newberry, Ellsworth; sisters-in-law, Jennifer (Kevin) Reeser, LeRoy; Jody (Tod) Scott, Colorado; four nephews, Jake and Kyle Reeser, Owen and Quinn Scott; a dear aunt, Sharon (Bobby) Allen, and their children, Amber and Erin, of Texas.
Wayne was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Wayne graduated from Lincoln High School and Illinois State University. He had worked at Stark Excavating, Bloomington, as a risk manager for 16 years. Wayne was a member of the East White Oak Bible Church family. His greatest interest was supporting his daughters’ activities and sporting events. Wayne had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling with his family. He valued the special relationships he built with so many friends and family throughout the years. Wayne was a loving, devoted son, husband, father, friend and follower of Christ.
