BLOOMINGTON — Matthew DeWayne Messamore, 60, of Bloomington, passed away at 8 a.m. Tuesday (April 16, 2019) at his home.
His memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
Matt was born Dec. 3, 1958, in Bloomington, the son of Verl DeWayne and Georgina Mary Lanier Messamore.
He is survived by three children, Mindy (Robert L. Kline) Messamore, LeRoy; Brock (Shayla) Messamore, Clarksville, Tenn.; and Taylor (Nick) Hiltbrand, Bloomington; five siblings, Mark (Rebecca) Messamore, Minonk; Brian (Tamie) Messamore, Greenwood, Ind.; Kathy (Rick) Oltman, Hudson; Karen (Kurt) Lindenbaum, Owatonna, Minn.; and Jason (Kate) Messamore, Palm Harbor, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Matt graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1977, where he was an outstanding athlete in basketball, baseball and football. He was a member of Laborer's Local 362, Bloomington, and Finishers Local 18, Springfield. Matt was an avid Chicago Cub fan, enjoyed golf and was quite the jokester. He had a big heart, was extremely proud of his children and loved spending time with his grand dogs (Champ, Tinley, Adrian, and Oakley). Matt will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
