EUREKA — Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman said Wednesday this week's death of a 17-year-old Benson girl is “suspicious.”
Ruestman said Mariah Higgins-Nino was found unresponsive at her Benson residence on Tuesday. Officials were called to the scene in the 500 block of Linn Street late Tuesday morning.

An autopsy was conducted and final results are pending toxicology tests, said Ruestman.
“The death is being classified as suspicious and an unnatural cause,” he said.
The investigation is being conducted by the Woodford County Coroner’s Office, the Woodford County Sheriff’s Department and the Woodford County State’s Attorney's office.
