BLOOMINGTON — Two men are expected to be formally charged Thursday in McLean County court with guns and weapons offenses after a shooting incident early Sunday morning.
Bloomington police said they arrested the two men in connection with one of two incidents of gunfire that occurred Sunday, both on Tracy Drive. The arrests came after execution of a search warrant at 1901 Tracy Drive, near the scene of the shots fired investigations.
Officers were dispatched around 4:15 a.m. Sunday to the 1900 block of Tracy where they found evidence that gunfire had occurred. No injuries were reported, but two unoccupied vehicles were struck by gunfire, police said.
Two firearms were recovered during the execution of the search warrant, police said.
One of the two suspects faces a preliminary charge of aggravated discharge of a firearm. The other faces a preliminary charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.
The Pantagraph does not name suspects in such cases until formal charges are filed.
Around 9:06 p.m. Sunday, an officer was on extra patrol in the same block of Tracy Drive when he heard shots fired from behind his patrol car. Officers located evidence of gunfire that struck two buildings; again, no injuries were reported.
No suspect information has been released regarding Sunday's second gunfire incident.
