BLOOMINGTON — A Bloomington man is accused of making a series of phone calls, threatening to kill a local woman.

Jaylin Walls, 26, of the 1110 block of Doral Drive is charged with harassment and harassment by telephone.

According to a statement read Tuesday in court by a prosecutor, Walls told the woman he could kill her and stated, "an OP (order of protection) ain't going to protect you."

During questioning by police, Walls said he was "just venting" when he made the remarks during more than 40 calls to the woman, according to the prosecutor.

Associate Judge David Butler denied a request for a no-cash bond, citing Walls' criminal history that includes felony drug and domestic battery convictions.

Walls was jailed in lieu of posting $2,535.

A Dec. 7 arraignment is scheduled.
