BLOOMINGTON — The Bloomington man who was arrested on preliminary charges of armed robbery in an incident at an east-side hotel was formally charged Thursday.

Jarrod E. Williams, 40, is charged with aggravated robbery. He is accused of taking money from a person by use or threat of force by indicating verbally or by his actions that he was armed, according to court documents.

He was jailed in lieu of posting $30,035

Bloomington police were called to Best Western, 604½ IAA Drive, for a reported armed robbery about 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, but officers could not locate the suspect.

Officers later were dispatched to the 2000 block of Rainbow Avenue for a disorderly conduct call. There they found and arrested Williams.

On Wednesday, Bloomington police said an officer was injured during the arrest; the state’s attorney’s office did not pursue a preliminary charge of resisting an officer resulting in officer injury.
