BLOOMINGTON — A Bloomington man was killed in a shooting in Columbus, Ohio, early Wednesday.

About 1:15 a.m., Columbus police found 28-year-old Zachary R. Hoeft lying between the drive-thru ordering stations of a McDonald's on the east side of the city, with a gunshot wound.

Hoeft was taken to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 1:49 a.m.

Columbus police said no suspects or motives have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office has not confirmed if Hoeft was a Columbus resident at the time of his death.

It was the 79th homicide in Columbus this year, according to police.
