BLOOMINGTON — Two Bloomington police officers were injured during a foot chase involving a suspect in a domestic battery case, authorities said Friday.

Jared Bieniek, 33, of Bloomington was jailed in lieu of posting $15,035. He is charged with aggravated domestic battery (strangle victim), unlawful restraint, two counts of resisting a police officer with injury, two counts of domestic battery, and two counts of resisting a police officer, according to a statement issued by the Bloomington Police Department.

The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday when officers were called to the 1300 block of Hershey Road for an "in-progress" domestic violence incident. Officers had to kick in the door to help the alleged victim, and police said Bieniek climbed out a window and ran away.

Several officers chased him; one officer had minor injuries. Another had a serious knee injury, police said.

The victim was treated for minor injuries.
