BLOOMINGTON — A Bloomington police squad car was struck Thursday afternoon, leading officers to a hit-and-run investigation.

No one was injured.

About 2:50 p.m., officers attempted to stop a dark green SUV in a parking lot near the intersection of Market and Madison streets. The driver of the vehicle, who has not been identified, "rammed an occupied Bloomington police vehicle and fled," said police Public Affairs Officer John Fermon.

The driver drove away, headed west on Market, but officers did not pursue the vehicle.

The officer was not injured in the collision and the squad car has moderate damage, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
