BLOOMINGTON - A shooting on the near east side Saturday remains under investigation by Bloomington Police.

Shortly before 9 p.m., police received a report of shots fired near the intersection of Mulberry and Evans streets. Police taped off the intersection as a crime scene and blocked Evans between Locust and Chestnut streets.

Broken glass was visible in the Mulberry-Evans intersection, which was reopened by 10:40 p.m. Police had reopened Evans between Locust and Chestnut by 11 p.m.

A police investigator on the scene said a man went to Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. A spokesperson at BroMenn could not confirm if a patient was being treated for such a wound.

The investigator said he believed the injury was not life-threatening. He said the police were getting limited cooperation from witnesses. No other details, including the identity of the victim or the description of possible suspects, were available.
