BLOOMINGTON — A Friday morning drug raid by Bloomington and federal drug agents netted a significant amount of cocaine, several weapons and the arrests of four men on drug charges.

According to a statement from Bloomington police, the drug raid followed a three-month investigation by the Bloomington Police Department's vice unit into crack and powder cocaine distribution in the city.

Federal search warrants were executed at three apartments in Bloomington, at 2102 E. Empire St., 2010 E. Empire St. and 705 Fairmont Drive.

Seized during the searches were 185 grams of powder cocaine, about 115 grams of crack cocaine and $6,900 in cash. Weapons found by police included three handguns, a shotgun and a bulletproof vest, said police.

Federal charges are pending on several of the defendants involved in the ongoing investigation, according to BPD.

Lorenzo Aken, 38, of the 600 block of South Lee Street, made an initial court appearance Friday where his bond was set at $200,035 cash.

The three other suspects did not appear in court for bond hearings on Saturday. The Pantagraph does not name suspects in such cases until formal charges are filed in court.

All three men are from Bloomington, said police.

Aken is charged with delivery of cocaine in August in Bloomington, a Class X felony that carries a possible prison term of six to 30 years.

Police said more information on the investigation will be released next week.
