NORMAL — An investigation is continuing into a traffic accident that seriously injured a Lexington man late Friday when he was hit by a vehicle near uptown Normal.
The man, in his late 20s, was taken to Advocate BroMenn Medical Center and later transferred to a Peoria hospital, said Police Chief Rick Bleichner, who described the injuries as "pretty serious."
The incident happened just before 10 p.m. near North Linden Street and College streets. Police closed the northbound lanes of Linden after they reached the scene.
No charges against the driver had been filed as of Saturday night.
A state police reconstructionist from Pontiac was called in at the request of Normal police. The report was not expected to be complete until Sunday, a state police spokesman said.
