BLOOMINGTON — A Normal man, who authorities believe may be linked to the abduction of a Virginia teenager, has been charged with theft and credit card fraud in McLean County.
Donald B. Quesenberry, 34, of the 1500 block of Northbrook Drive in Normal, has been the target of nationwide search for about a week since the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl from Christiansburg, Va., said McLean County State's Attorney Jason Chambers.
Authorities said Friday that Aysia Monique Lewis has been found safe in Arkansas.
Chambers said the local charges relate to Quesenberry's alleged theft of his girlfriend's credit card and car in Normal on Jan. 25, after he told her he was going to a local store. When she contacted him the next day, he said he was on his way to Virginia to visit his ailing grandmother, Chambers said.
"It was later learned that the defendant left for Virginia to meet with minor victim A.L. and the two may have not been heard from since Jan. 26," said Chambers.
Police in Little Rock confirmed this morning that Quesenberry is in custody on the McLean County charges.
Chambers said the investigation is ongoing by Normal police and other jurisdictions outside Illinois.
