A Normal man driving a white minivan led police on a six-minute pursuit through Normal on Thursday night before being apprehended at the end of a cul-de-sac.
Drivers on Interstate 55 first reported a southbound driver traveling at up to 100 mph and passing motorists on the shoulder near Towanda. He exited the interstate at 8:04 p.m. onto Veterans Parkway and continued to drive through Normal at up to 70 mph, according to Normal police.
The pursuit ended on Larry Court when the minivan blew a tire and the driver attempted to escape on foot. He was in custody by 8:10 p.m., according to police records.
Police arrested him on preliminary charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest and attempting to elude a police officer.
