Man charged after overnight stabbing in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON — A man was stabbed early Saturday morning in downtown Bloomington, police reported, and another man was arrested.

The suspect, Elbert Hawkins, 50, is charged with aggravated battery/use of a deadly weapon. He was jailed in lieu of $10,035 and ordered to avoid contact with the other man.

Police were called about 3:15 a.m. to the 300 block of East Jefferson Street where two men had a fight.

During the fight, one man was stabbed in the neck and suffered significant injuries.

He was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. His current condition was not available Saturday morning.
