CLINTON — Four people have been arrested in connection with burglaries in DeWitt County that occurred Thursday and early Friday.

Arrested on preliminary counts of burglary were one man and two women, all of Clinton, and a man from Kenney. All four are jailed in DeWitt County, and police continue to investigate the case.

Lee News Service does not name suspects until they have been formally charged in court.

Sheriff Mike Walker said more than 30 items — including multiple all-terrain vehicles, scooters, tools and more — were stolen Thursday from a home along Middle Creek Road in rural Clinton. Early Friday, a neighbor called police to say burglars had returned to the same location, and used a security camera to provide police with a description of the suspects' vehicle.

Patrolling deputies found the vehicle and stopped it, later finding the suspects had stolen a motorcycle from the home.

County deputies and Illinois State Police executed search warrants at a property along Airport Road in rural Clinton, where they found items stolen in the Thursday burglary as well as other items suspected to have been stolen.

Walker asked anyone with information to call the sheriff's office at 217-935-3196 or DeWitt County Crime Stoppers at 217-935-9438.
