BLOOMINGTON — Bloomington police say one man was detained but then released  following a dispute and a crash Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the intersection of Oakland and Stockholm on Bloomington’s west side about 12:54 p.m. Monday. According to a statement from police, prior to the crash, one person punched another person's window during a dispute. The person who punched the window received a cut on his arm. The driver, whose window was punched, drove away and got into a minor accident, police said.

The man who called the police (the one with the cut), said something about being stabbed and/or ran over, hence why some media (or social media) outlets reported it initially as a stabbing, police said.

There was no stabbing and no one was ran over. His arm was cut when he punched a window. There were no arrests and the report is being forwarded to the McLean County State's Attorney's office for charges, said police in the statement.

The names of the suspect and victim have not been released.
