Threatening a public official — A Pontiac man is accused of threatening violence against a McLean County sheriff's deputy during his transport to jail on domestic battery charges.
Cody Beller, 21, allegedly told Deputy Dakota DeMoss, "There's been six murders in the past weeks — you're next," according to a prosecutor's statement read in court.
Associate Judge David Butler denied Beller's request to be released without posting a cash bond and ordered the defendant pay $335 to be released. Beller told the judge he feared the jail stay could jeopardize his job.
"I have everything to lose if I stay here," Beller told Butler.
