NORMAL — Two men were charged Friday with illegal weapons possession and resisting police and one also faces a burglary charge after a report of vehicle burglaries Wednesday in northeast Normal. 

Normal police were called about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday to the Savannah Green subdivision, which is east of One Normal Plaza and north of Pine Street. Residents helped to locate the two suspects, who fled when officers approached, police said.

Kajuan Hopson, 21, of Normal was charged with five counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts of possession of a firearm without a firearm owner's identification card and one count of resisting police. Police said he was armed with two handguns when he was arrested.

He was jailed in lieu of posting $20,035.

Koebe Harris, 21, of Bloomington was charged with burglary, resisting police, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of possession of a firearm without a FOID. He was jailed in lieu of posting $7,535.

Police said they arrested the men after a foot chase and recovered stolen property from one of the suspects.
