Food bank given 10K pounds of pork
NORMAL — The Illinois Pork Producers Association, Illinois Corn Marketing Board and Illinois Soybean Association Checkoff Program presented Midwest Food Bank with 10,000 pounds of ground pork on Nov. 30.
The gift is part of a larger donation from the Pork Power: Partnering to Fight Hunger in Illinois program. More than 50,000 pounds of ground pork were donated to nine regional food banks in Illinois during November and December.
The Illinois Pork Producers Association launched Pork Power in 2008 to help to fight hunger in Illinois and to give farmers an avenue to donate pork to food banks. Since then, more than 625,000 pounds of pork have been donated.
