Peace prize nominations open
NORMAL — The Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies Program at Illinois State University is accepting nominations and self-nominations for the Grabill-Homan Community Peace Prize, which recognizes individual achievements in peacemaking, leadership, community service and activism.
Nominees must be a resident of Bloomington or Normal and at least 21 years old. Nominees should have a record of peaceful conflict resolution, leadership, integrity and compassion, and demonstrate respect for all individuals. Nominees may demonstrate these attributes and a record of peacemaking in any area, including the workplace, family life or volunteer work.
Nomination deadline is Feb. 15. The award recipient will receive a plaque in the spring.

City offices closed for holiday
BLOOMINGTON — The Bloomington Public Works offices will be closed Monday for Veterans Day. Household garbage and recycling will be collected as usual.
The Citizen Convenience Center will be closed.
