Evergreen events aid kid programs

BLOOMINGTON — Evergreen Memorial Cemetery is sponsoring a 5K run/walk June 18 with all proceeds benefiting McLean County Child Protection Network, which assists The Children’s Advocacy Center & CASA (court appointed special advocates) for children.

The run starts at 9 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with check-in or same-day registration for runners from 8 to 8:55 a.m. Walkers start at 10 a.m., with check-in or same-day registration for walkers from 9 to 9:55 a.m.

Entry fees are $20 before June 1; $25 after June 1; and $15 walker entry fee. Participants must be 16 years old or have parents sign registration form.

FC sets events for Memorial Day

FARMER CITY — Farmer City’s Memorial Day observance will be 10 a.m. May 30 in the downtown Central Park, conducted by the American Legion family and the VFW.

A march to the city cemetery will follow, with a tribute at the tomb of the unknown. After a return march downtown, the “Patriots on Wheels” judging and contest will be held.

In case of rain, the observance will be at Farmer City American Legion.

Hudson Road work to start

HUDSON — Construction on Hudson Road, between Sweeney Drive and West Street, will be Wednesday through May 27.

The road will remain open but traffic may be shifted to ensure worker safety.
