West Beaufort closed for work

NORMAL — West Beaufort Street will be closed to all traffic between Uptown Circle and Broadway from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday for work associated with the multi-modal transportation center.

Roller derby team promoting skating

NORMAL — McLean County’s women’s roller derby team, the MissFits, will take over the uptown Normal traffic circle at noon Monday to remind commuters that roller skates count as sustainable transportation.

The May 14-20 Good to Go Commuter Challenge is a free competition encouraging people to avoid driving alone.

ISU administrator leaves for S.D. job

NORMAL — Rod Custer, who has been a key player in improving grant funding at Illinois State University, has been named provost of Black Hills State University in South Dakota.

At ISU, Custer has spent five years as associate vice president for research, graduate studies, and international education. He previously was technology department chairman.
