Barickman, wife welcome 1st child
SPRINGFIELD — While his colleagues were hunkered down in the Capitol dealing with a crush of last-minute legislative wrangling, state Rep. Jason Barickman was back home Friday tending to a different kind of business.
The freshman Republican lawmaker from Champaign was with his wife, Kristin, and their newborn baby, August Michael Barickman.
The child, their first, was born Thursday afternoon. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 8 ounces.
In a text message to his colleagues, Barickman wrote, “Kristin is great, baby is perfect.”
Word of the birth brought applause on the floor of the Illinois House.
