NORMAL — An administrator from Sam Houston State University in Texas has been added to the finalists for Illinois State University vice president of academic affairs and provost.

Abbey Zink, dean and professor of English for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sam Houston, was added after another finalist, Lynda Brown-Wright of Kentucky State University, withdrew her name from consideration.

Zink has been dean and professor at Sam Houston since June 2014. Before that, she was dean and professor of the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University-Kingsville for two years. She has a doctoral degree in English from Northern Illinois University.

In her current post, Zink has worked extensively on curriculum and created an interdisciplinary minor in applied ethics and critical thinking. She also established a college diversity and inclusion committee and launched an undergraduate research journal.

She will take part in a public forum at 2 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Bone Student Center Circus Room. The other finalists' forums will be in the Old Main Room of the Bone Student Center.

Other finalists and their forum dates are: Risa Dickson, English professor and former vice president for academic planning and policy, University of Hawaii System, 2 p.m. Thursday; Steve Everett, dean of the College of Architecture, Design and the Arts, University of Illinois at Chicago, 2 p.m. Friday; and Rodney Hanley, provost and vice president for academic affairs, Fisk University, Nashville, Tenn., 2 p.m. Tuesday.
