NORMAL — The interim dean of Milner Library has been named to the post permanently, effective July 1, Illinois State University officials announced Tuesday.
Dane Ward had been interim dean since July 2012.
“The library and university community at Illinois State University means a great deal to me,” Ward said in a statement posted on ISU's website.
Milner Library has a 90-member staff, an institutional budget of about $9.3 million and a collection of more than 1.6 million volumes.
"As in the past, I will seek to engage students, faculty and staff in discussions in order to build library collections that matter, with facilities and services that enhance learning and research,” he said.
Ward joined ISU as associate dean for public services at Milner in 2002 and has also served as senior associate dean.
He received a doctorate in higher education administration in December 2013. He has a master’s in library and information science from Indiana University, Bloomington, Ind., and a master’s in secondary social studies education from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla.
